Though it may seem like a mammoth task to keep your home healthy and safe, it doesnt have to be. Enlisting the help of some simple but effective measures can help you to achieve the results that you are after.

1. Keep the dust to a minimum. You may not realize it, but the more dust that builds up within your house the more chances there are for respiratory problems. Dust triggers allergies and even colds, so its important to keep the dust in your house to a minimum. While it may be unrealistic to dust on a daily basis, be sure that you keep your living area free and clear of obvious dust and take care of the rest as soon as time permits.

2. Use homemade cleaning products. Many of us dont realize the potential dangers that traditional cleaning products may pose. They tend to be loaded with toxins and ingredients that are unhealthy for us to breathe in. Therefore turn to a much healthier option and try creating your own using simple household items. Opt for baking soda, vinegar, and lemon juice to replace the traditional cleaners that youve always purchased at the store.

3. Buy and use organic products wherever possible. Organic fruits, vegetables, and other products have become quite popular and with good reason. By saying that they are organic, this ensures that they are free of any pesticides or any other chemicals or substances that can be dangerous for us to breath in or consume. Try buying organic whenever possible and eliminate this danger. You can find organic options in everything from produce to simple household items these days, so you dont have to search far.

4. Keep all areas of the house, even the last places you think of clean and free of clutter. Though many people laugh at the notion of spring cleaning, its important part of keeping your household healthy and safe. Be sure that you keep all air ducts clean, and clean even the deepest darkest crevices of your house as often as you can. This will ensure that dust, mold, and bacteria are wiped away and arent present to potentially make you sick.

5. Be sure that the area that you sleep is dark and free of distractions. Getting enough sleep is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. If you sleep in an environment that isnt dark enough or free from distractions such as TV, then you risk having interrupted sleep each night. To ensure you get plenty of rest and stay healthy, be sure that the area you sleep in is conducive to falling asleep and staying asleep.

6. Keep your use of plastic to a minimum. Not only is plastic unsafe for the environment, but it can also be unsafe to us as well. Heating things in the microwave in plastic containers can pose a potential danger. Do your part to keep your use of plastic to a minimum to avoid any potential problems down the line.

7. Use eco friendly tools and products wherever possible. Green living has become a popular phenomenon, and so too have the use of eco friendly products. These ensure that you utilize the earths natural resources and often offer up much healthier alternatives for the very things we do and use each day. So whenever possible, opt for eco friendly products and tools for your own good as well as that of the environment.
